Job Description

Summary

The Director of Software Development, Health IT Solutions, plans, directs, and coordinates all activities related to the development, integration, and delivery of software business solutions across multiple functional areas of the organization. He/she oversees project scheduling and resource allocation with the help of team leaders. He/she is responsible for cost control, project schedules and resource management, including professional development.

Key responsibilities

  • Participates in strategic decisions regarding technology, definition and delivery of software solutions and applies the management processes inherent in software development to achieve the objectives of the strategic plan;
  • Promotes the use of innovative technologies that provide benefits to the organization;
  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating and providing input to the annual operating budgets and any in-year revisions if applicable;
  • Participates in the evaluation of the technical feasibility of projects, plans and coordinates software development and/or delivery activities. Drives software development and integration;
  • Responsible for scheduling projects, establishing and controlling budgets and resource allocation, and establishing the requirements for each budget process;
  • Keep up to date for all products under his responsibility, the product roadmaps indicating the versions, features and changes to come at a given date;
  • Support the management and deployment of software releases as well as the end of life management of these releases;
  • Ensure version consistency across the customer base and is responsible for product lifecycle management recommending the timing of product releases to customers;
  • Ensure product quality through quality assurance processes;
  • Prepare business cases for projects in collaboration with sales and services;
  • Determine continuous improvement processes in agreement with his team and other business units of the organization;
  • Manage training requests to provide continuous training to his team.

Desired Profile

Qualifications and experience

  • Degree in management or related field with a minimum of 5 years of expertise in the IT field;
  • Knowledge and concrete experience in software development and team management;
  • Ability to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the team and the relationships between individuals in order to get the most out of the work force;
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions;
  • Bilingualism required French and English, spoken and written;
  • Knowledge of software development tools and methodology;
  • Proficiency in Office suite and or Google and Azure DevOps suite and agile development methodology;
  • Knowledge of the medical environment (an asset).
